How It Is Now

Esther lies in a hospital bed alone and with no one to talk to, her family lives halfway across the country, and the only people that can keep her company are busy elsewhere.

Can you imagine what it must feel like to be completely alone when you are sick and helpless? 

Did you know that close to 40% of the population in the United States feels loneliness? Right now seniors, adults, and children in our communities are being afflicted by loneliness when they are at their most vulnerable. This is a problem that has doubled in size in the past 30 years, and with it, higher risk of depression, decreased quality of life, higher mortality rates, and unnecessary suffering.

Our Service

No one should be alone when they are sick, that’s why we decided to build an army of algorithmically matched volunteers (angels) to fight loneliness.

We connect patients with volunteers and donors through commonalities based on shared interests, such as a hobby, career background, or even similar health condition or disease experiences.

Plus, our team provides access for patients to their favorite activities, such as reading, personalized art classes, or music lessons at the bedside.

Through mission-driven people just like you, and the kind hearts of donors and their networks, we also provide gifts and experiences for patients to fulfill their dreams list, examples of which include meeting their favorite author or musician, visiting a performance hall, or attending a sports event.

At St. Michael’s Angels, we are a team of dedicated leaders with diverse backgrounds in areas such as entrepreneurship, fundraising, event planning, photography, law, marketing, health and wellness, hospitality, psychology, and information technology.

But mostly we are a group of people just like you who decided to solve a problem, which is to eradicate loneliness from every hospital in the U.S and the world, through the gift of a loving presence.
